FAQ
How do I register?
Visit a college near you, for a career guidance session with one of our consultants. If you decide on a Career Learning Programme you can register by completing a registration form and pay the registration fee.

When can I register?
AT UCO you will have the privilege to answer this question for yourself.  UCO dose not have a closing date for registration, which means that you can register anytime during the year.

Won’t I lose a lot of work if I register this way?
No.  You will study at your own pace and time and therefore not lose any classes.  You will also have Training CD’s and Audio Cassettes available to you.

What does my registration fee pay?
At UCO, your registration fee pays for: Your classes for 24 months, Formative and summative assessments (excluding re-submissions, ICDL and any international assessment). Your study material, Award Ceremony (excluding attire), Administration – Learner cards, registration forms etc.

Anything specific I need on the day of registration?
Your Identity Document, latest school result, your registration fee and 4 I.D. photos (of which 2 x Black and White for Learner’s Licence). What are the entry level/qualifications for UCO courses? Because we are a FET college, we don’t have a rigid admission requirement.

Only in a few instances for example:

How do I pay my College fees, and how much will it be?
Your instalments will be determined by the Career Learning Programme you registered for.  You can either choose to get a debit order, directly deducting your monthly instalment from your account to the UCO college account,  or you can deposit it yourself at the bank, stating your Learner number as the reference.

How much does study material cost?
You don’t need to buy your study material; it is included in your course fee.

What is the difference between Career Learning Programme, Short Courses, and Module?

Career Learning Programme
A Career Learning Programme is built up of a number of modules to give you that specific qualification.

What is the difference between full time and part time?
Because we know a lot of our Learners are working we have the following class times available:
• Monday-Thursday from 17:00 – 18:00 pm
• Saturdays from 09:00 – 12:00 pm.
If you wish to study full time, class times will be from:
• 08:00am – 17:00pm with 1½ hour periods.

When will I be assessed?
Each Learner only does one subject at a time, and only when you have successfully completed the subject, with all its Formative Assessments, you can write your pre-assessment on a Friday.  If you were found competent in your pre-assessment, you may proceed to your final assessment.

How does UCO evaluate my performance and progress?
We have progress reports constantly available to you and your parents/guardian.  During the progress of each subject you will perform Quick Quiz’s, Lesson Evaluations and Practical Applications which will be a great guideline for you and your Training Assessor of your progress.

What is the duration of the Career Learning Programme?
You will study at your own pace and time therefore it will differ from learner to learner.  The harder you work and the more classes you attend, the sooner you will finish your programme.
